SAWITRI’s first two-act, 180-minute play in the Marathi* language of India – This daring play had first achieved critical acclaim in India in 1979. Directed by Prakash Date, known for his distinctive staging of notable Marathi classics, MAHASAGAR explored the lives of two disparate women and their families revealing the complexities and unknown depths, desires and longings of the human mind in the quest for happiness.
*Marathi, one of the 22 major languages of India, largely spoken in the state of Maharashtra, and by over 10,000 people in the Greater Toronto Area.
